Tobacco harm reduction's place in the culture wars examined at #GFN24

Enter the #GFN24panel “The global culture war over THR”. This plenary session will explore the battle for control of the THR narrative, in particular asking what we can learn from the experiences of activists and researchers as we determine how to continue advocating in a challenging environment. Will Godfrey, Editor-in-chief at Filter Magazine, will be at the helm of this panel discussion.

Hosted by Ethan Nadelman, #GFN24 panel discussion 'The costs of prohibition' will tackle the unifying obstacles facing harm reduction advocates, whether in the well-established substance misuse harm reduction sector or in the rapidly developing tobacco harm reduction field. Prohibition comes with its costs, and this panel of experts will bring their professional expertise to a challenging subject.

#GFN24: Balancing risk and reward

A focus of this year’s Global Forum On Nicotine is the crossroads between sensible economic and risk-proportionate public health policy, and the challenges facing regulators and practitioners in assessing appropriate response to risk. Exploring this theme are two sessions examining the real-world function of tobacco harm reduction and the power the precautionary principle plays in the regulatory responses to safer products.

Since the curtain fell on #GFN23, the GFN Team has been super busy, secretly formulating next year’s plans. We are very pleased to announce that #GFN24 will take place live in Warsaw from 13 - 15 June 2024 and will be themed ‘Economics, Health and Tobacco Harm Reduction’. In keeping with a programme that will explore costs and savings, we’re happy to confirm that registration fees for #GFN24 will be frozen at 2023 prices.
