Global Forum on Nicotine 2021

17 June 2021 - 18 June 2021

Liverpool

Description

Covid still impacting the ability of people to travel and meet. Our response was to hold a hybrid event, with a limited number of speakers and audience attending, plus a larger group participating online. The theme for the event was, ‘The Future for Nicotine’. The programme presented the opportunity to assess the positive steps and gains for safer nicotine and tobacco harm reduction generally, as well as looking at the often fractious relationship between science and policy, the impact of innovation and investment in new technologies on public health and why international bodies have failed to bring smoking to an end. This event saw the introduction of the GFN Commentary Team, with a cast of hosts and guests previewing the day’s programme, highlighting interesting and important items to watch out for. We also introduced #GFNFives - short videos submitted by participants - which are shown during the event, but also posted on the conference archive. The latter replaced posters.
