Description
The title ‘Rethinking Nicotine’signalled a wish to redefine the debates on the role that safer nicotine can play in improving public health - to stop using the language of tobacco control, but rather assess the potential benefits without reference to the ‘dirty’ delivery systems that were previously linked to its use. A diverse programme with significant content produced by consumer advocates made the event a lively affair. This year saw the first Michael Russell Award, presented to Dr Lars Ramström, ’in recognition of his contribution to tobacco harm reduction through science and scholarship’. The first Tobacco Harm Reduction Film Festival also took place, curated by Aaron Biebert, whose work includes the landmark ‘A Billion Lives’ documentary.
