The tobacco harm reduction landscape has transformed in the last decade, and we have always evolved with it.

Over 13 annual editions, the Global Forum on Nicotine has established itself as the foremost venue for consumers, scientists, policymakers and other experts, from more than 100 countries, to develop THR advocacy and advance strategies to reduce tobacco-related harm.

We are both proud of this and humbled by the support and goodwill we have received. Our mission will not change. However, due to a challenging climate around affordability and travel, our flagship global event in Warsaw will not be taking place in 2027. We are working to reconvene it for 2028.

At the same time, exciting opportunities have now arisen to host regional and sectoral events in order to build networks and promote THR. This new strategy will empower us to respond flexibly to breaking developments and local needs, while continuing in our critical role of amplifying consumer voices.

Change is vital for progress, and we are delighted to announce that Joanna Junak, our new Chief Operating Officer, and Will Godfrey, as Director of Content and External Relations, will lead GFN into this new era.

Joanna has already been central to the development of GFN, and brings her deep knowledge and experience to provide consistency and stability. Will brings his extensive background in harm reduction journalism to ensure GFN remains focused on relevant issues and communicates effectively.

As part of this transition, GFN Directors Paddy Costall and Jessica Harding will be stepping down at the end of 2026. Their inspirational leadership over many years has made a truly extraordinary contribution to global THR, and we wish to express our profound gratitude to them both.

We will soon be announcing events for 2027 to build on the current momentum in THR advocacy and influence. Please sign up for the NSP newsletter and watch our socials to stay informed.

We thank you all for your continued support. Tobacco harm reduction and GFN are here to stay!
